As we arrive at the Week 8 picks against the spread, the clouds of despair have returned to populate the sky. Last week’s 2-1 ATS mark wasn’t the perceived turning of the corner. No, it was nothing more than a facade, a mirage, fool’s gold if you will.
An 0-3 ATS performance (can you call an ofer a performance?) was absolutely dismal. Who knew that the Detroit Lions were going to turn back into the Detroit Lions? And picking the Buffalo Bills over the New England Patriots was a no-brainer, right?
Well, it turns out that I’m the one with no brains. If you ask the Duffer, at this point, the best betting advice on offer might simply be to fade the Duffer.
With that off my chest, let’s get to the NFL lines for the Week 8 ATS picks.
The Jacksonville Jaguars were expected to be this good, but even the most optimistic of Pittsburgh Steelers fans couldn’t have perceived that they’d be occupying a playoff spot and sporting a better record than the Bengals and the Bills. They clash in perhaps the biggest AFC game of Week 8.
It’s said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and expecting a different outcome. Even with that being the case, we’re going right back to the Lions in Week 8. If Detroit doesn’t crush the Raiders at home in the Week 8 MNF game, then the Lions should simply tender their resignation as an NFL franchise.
Finally, it’s the showdown of the NFL’s two New York teams that call New Jersey home base. The Jets have won the last two games against the Giants. They’ll make it a threepeat on Sunday.
Let’s check out all the top NFL picks and best early bets in the Week 8 ATS picks.

Jacksonville has covered in seven successive road games. The Jaguars are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games at Pittsburgh.
Always one team I hated to play

The Steelers, though, are 8-2 ATS over the past 10 games and 4-1 ATS through their past five home games. It’ll be a tight game but Jacksonville is simply the better team.
NFL ATS Picks: Jacksonville Jaguars -2.5 (-110), 1 unit
NFL ATS Picks 2: Lions Repel Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders just lost to a Chicago Bears team whose QB Tyler Bagent lost his previous start to the Colorado School Of Mines. If the Lions are truly a legit NFL contender they win this one for fun.
Detroit is 7-1 ATS in the club’s past eight home games. It’s been a year since the Lions failed to cover in back-to-back games.
NFL ATS Picks: Detroit Lions -8.5 (-110), 1 unit

NFL ATS Picks 3: Jets Soars Over Giants
Coming off their bye week, the Jets are 2-0 SU in their last two games and 3-0 ATS over the past three contests.

True, the Giants have covered the past two weeks, but at the same time, they’re 2-6 ATS through the last eight games. With 85 points, they’re the only NFL team yet to put 100 points on the board this season.
NFL ATS Picks: New York Jets -2.5 (-110), 1 unit
NFL ATS records: 5-15-1
