The Phoenix Suns (49-33, 24-17 away, 35-45-2 ATS) and Minnesota Timberwolves (56-26, 30-11 away, 40-40-2 ATS) start their best-of-seven series this afternoon at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN (3:40 pm ET).

Suns Dominated T-Wolves in Regular Season
Minnesota was among the class of the West all season, while Phoenix needed a win and a New Orleans loss on the final day of the regular season to finally escape the Play-In Tournament for good. But the head-to-head results paint a much different picture.
The Suns went 3-0 against the Timberwolves, winning all three by double-digits. That includes a 125-106 rout in Minnesota on the final day of the season (when Minnesota needed a win to maintain a top-two seed). Bradley Beal led the way with 36 points – his third-highest output in a Suns uniform – on 14-of-21 shooting, while Phoenix shot 54.7% from the field as a team.
Minnesota also shot over 50% from the field and finished +5 on the glass, but did itself in with 24 turnovers.
The other two matchups this year were a 133-115 Suns win in Phoenix on Nov. 15, and a 97-87 Suns win in Phoenix on Apr. 5.

Suns vs T-Wolves Injury Reports
Both teams enter the postseason healthy. Damion Lee (8.2 PPG, 3.0 RPG in 2022-23), who’s missed the entire season with a knee injury, is the only player listed on the Suns’ side.
Minnesota also has just one player on its injury report for Game 1: 2023 second-round pick Jaylen Clark (Achilles), who hasn’t played an NBA minute yet.

Phoenix Suns vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction
Playoffs are a different beast than the regular season, but the way the Suns dominated the T-Wolves – including two wins in the last two weeks – coupled with the fact that they have more meaningful postseason experience, has me strongly leaning to Phoenix in Game 1.
